so I had a zipper pop off my sleeping bag last night. at humps cafe in clatskanie, our lovely spunky elder waitress offered the services of their lovely, younger bartender to fix it. we rode a few miles and turned into her neighborhood. she lived in an expansive house; she was gearing up for the portland zombie walk; she had two self-made paintings on the wall. she fixed the zipper, entertained us for an hour, and sent us on our way--we managed to agree that the russians are sneaky and that world war II was an interesting moment in history. this is a shout out to her--to whom I owe all my future warm and comfy nights.
me and brent are in astoria, oregon, by the way. we're at the wet dog cafe, which features a huge window onto the pacific ocean. great beer and great lasagna (if a bit overpriced). may be spending the next day here if the rain keeps up.
